Celebrate the Happy New Year

Hello and Welcome
It was my first week back, a very quiet one with not all my kiddos back yet.
We still had time to create some New Year projects that were fun to make.

So here's what we did last week.

Happy New Year Noise Makers
These shakers were so fun.  I hot glued 2 plastic containers that I had saved from applesauce together with a bell inside.  Glued on the stick for the kids to decorate and then....shook them and shouted 'Happy New Year'!

Banner
I printed off a colouring sheet and added a hanger on the top with some string.

Hats
To make these simple hats, cut 2 large circles...I used a dinner plate to trace mine.
Cut them out and staple them together.  We glued lots of colourful circles onto our.  When they are decorated, you bend them together to make a cone shape, staple and add some string.

Wreaths
Always great to have a new wreath.
The kids loved gluing on the stars and it was great for my littlest ones who are learning the shapes.

Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.

Christmas Gifts and Snacks

 Hello and Welcome
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Christmas is such a special time to create with my little ones.
I loved to see the excitement in their faces as they made lots of fun gifts to give their Moms and Dads.
It makes them so proud to give and learn that it's not all about the getting.
I think it's nice for the parents to have some special keepsakes too.

So here's what we made this year to give to the parents.

Christmas Candles
I covered some heavy weight paper tubes of different sizes, with green paper and the kids added some glitter paper squares to decorate the tubes.
We glued them onto an old CD and added greens, pinecones we collected and some little red pom poms to look like berries.

Thumbprint Ornament
This had to have been one of my favorites this year.
I found these small wood rounds at the Dollarama and I glued a piece of striped twine to the back.
I pressed the kids thumbs into some dark brown ink and pressed it onto the wood rounds.
I added the details with a Sharpie marker and the kids glued on a little red nose.
We added it to a little poem for the parents.

Rudolph
These little plastic ball that open, were found at the Dollar Tree.  I got the kids to add some shredded brown paper to the inside, glued them shut and added the details.

Pom Pom Wreaths
These simple, cute wreaths were made by gluing coloured pom poms onto a heavy cardboard wreath shape. So fun and cheerful.

Wooden Snowflakes
I found these wooden snowflakes at the Dollar Store and the kids loved gluing all the different coloured pom poms onto them.

Button Wreath
Here is the main gift we made this year for the parents.
I had to think of something that my littlest ones could make and this worked out just great.
I got a sturdy garland and twisted it into rounds.
I pulled out my big jug of buttons and we decorated using them.
They really looked so cute when finished.

Tile Banner Ornaments
A friend of mine gave me a bag of some old tiles from a Scrabble game.
I had set them aside not really having a plan in mind.
I saw a similar idea and thought they would make adorable little ornaments.
I hot glued 2 pieces of ribbon together to add stability and added a bell on the bottom.  The kids glued on the tiles to spell out the words.

Santa Cards
For the Santa cards I traced the kids hands onto white cardstock.
We decorated the Santa, then I added the hands using a little brad so they would swing open.
On the inside, I added a photo of the child (it's the white covered area you see above) and wrote the sentiment.

PARTY FOOD

Here are some of the foods we made and ate at our Christmas party.
Rudolph- graham cracker with p. butter, pretzel antlers and grape nose.

White Chocolate Christmas trees- I melted some white chocolate and drizzled it over a pretzel stick to make the trees.  Add the sprinkles while the chocolate is still warm so they stick.

Melted Snowmen- I spread some white frosting onto an cookie, added a marshmallow, eyes and a chocolate chip nose.  The pretzels are the arms.

Strawberry Gnome- I made some little cupcakes, added white frosting for the beard and a strawberry for the hat.

PARTY GAMES

Jingle Bell Toss

Rudolph Ring Toss

Snowball Junk in the Trunk
The kids shake until all the snowballs fall out...super fun game they all love.

Well thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you have a great week.

Keeping Little Hands Busy Before Christmas

 Welcome

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Christmas holiday.
It's such a busy time of year and I put all of my time into celebrating with my littles and creating.
I took some time off, hence my late post.

Here are some of the things we did before Christmas.

I made a cone shape and glued it onto an old CD for stability.
The kids glued on lots of coloured circles.

Rocking Rudolph
These cute little guys are a PRINTABLE.

Bottle Cap Tree
Keeping it simple for my very young little ones.
I glued bottle caps to the sheet of green paper and my little ones glued coloured circles into the lids.

Christmas Stockings

Cone Santa
This is a cute PRINTABLE

Ornaments
A friend of mine gave me a bag of silk covered ornaments.  I added a sparkly pipe cleaner to the top as a hanger and the kids used lots of coloured pieces of tape to decorate them.

Angels

Mr. Snowman
This fun printable gets folded to add a tea light in the middle

Gingerbread House Decoration

Christmas is Coming

 Hello and Welcome

I am way behind in posting as the stomach flu decided to come and visit my house and make everyone miserably sick. I am doing much better now thank goodness.  During such a busy time, I need all the time and energy I can find.

So this is a collection of what we have been working on.

Trees
These cute, simple trees are a printable.

Santa Countdown
This is a fun advent calendar the kids made.  There are numbers for them to glue on each day.
It also practices number recognition and counting.

Rudolph and Santa Puppets
Simple paper puppets

Wreath
This adorable and simple wreath is a printable

Mr. Snowman
This was another really cute printable I found.

3-D Ornament
I printed out the circles, the kids coloured them and we glued them together.

Paper Tube Trees
I covered some tubes with green paper, then I folded the tube in half and cut along the sides, leaving the bottom portion together as the base.
We decorated them with some peel and stick shiny glitter paper.

Rudolph
I drew some Reindeer for them to colour.

Wreath

Well thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you stay healthy and happy!!

Numbers and Counting

Hello and Welcome

The holiday season is upon us and I'm feeling like I'm behind this week.

So last week our theme was numbers.
It's never too soon to start counting and helping the kids realize that number are all around us.

So here's what we did last week.

Ice Cream Match
The kids liked this one.  They matched the top of the ice cream cone to the bottom.
We added the fun dots in all colours as the sprinkles and counted them out.

Number Gluing
Simple number gluing then counted and added the dots to each number.

More Counting
I punched out large coloured circles, we glued them onto a paper and then counted out the right number of dots to add to each one.
I took some bottle lids to use as the matching pieces.

Craft Stick Match
The kids coloured the craft sticks.
(This little person of mine loved the red!!)

Number Tracing
