Chicks and Bunnies

Hello and Welcome
Ahhh...Spring has arrived.
What better way to celebrate then to welcome the birds and bunnies back.
It's been so fun to be out on our walks and hear all the birds singing.

So here's what we did last week.

Blue Bird
We made this simple blue bird using 2 large circles, folded over at the top.
I added 2 finger holds so my kiddos could have fun flying them and letting them flap their wings.

Bunny Banner
This was a fun banner to make...just in time for Easter.

Chick
Just a simple chick made from cutting up a paper plate.

Moveable Bunny
This cute bunny could move his ears.
(I used the printable to draw my own pattern since I don't belong to that site)

Fluffy Bunny
Simple paper plate bunny...we covered him with some fluffy cotton.

Origami Bunny

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Short week coming up with lots of Easter fun!!

Happy St. Pat's Day and Growing a Rainbow for Spring

Welcome
There was lots of 'wearin' of the green this week as we celebrated St. Patrick's Day.
Such a fun week with lots of learning and the highlight being us growing a rainbow....yes we did and it was easy and so fun!!!

So here's what we did last week.

St. Patrick's Day Wreath
We made some simple wreaths with a paper plate base.

Banner
This is a simple banner we made with a pop up shamrock.

Dancing Leprechaun
We made this fun dancing leprechaun and he danced to some Irish Jig music.
(I'm sorry I don't have a printable for this....it's been in my files for years)

St. Patrick's Day Activities

Pot of Silver Coins
We decorated a little pot made with 2 paper plates.  The kids decorated them and then I hid silver coins all around the playroom and they had such fun taking turns trying to find them all.

Watch
We had fun making these little watches.  We didn't know what time the leprechauns would arrive lol.
I used a green paper cup to create this simple watch.

Telescope
We made these fun telescopes to look for Leprechauns.  They must have been at my house as all the water in the toilet was green!  We did do a walk in the neighbourhood looking for 'green' as well.
I cut a hole in the bottom of a paper cup and hot glued in a paper tube to create the telescope.

Shamrock Treat
I made these cute little shamrock treats by dipping pretzels into some melted white chocolate that I tinted with green food colouring.  I placed 3 together on a piece of parchment paper and added the stick while the chocolate was still soft.

GROWING A RAINBOW

This was such a fun activity.
I just wish I could show you the video of my little ones watching this rainbow grow!!  It was so great.
Anyways, you take a folded paper towel and using Washable Crayola Markers, you colour each end of the paper towel with the markers.

Next, place each end of the paper towel into 2 shallow containers that have just a bit of water in them.

Sit back and watch the rainbow grow as the paper towel absorbs the ink.
The anticipation was so fun.

Rainbow
We made a rainbow by colouring each craft stick a different colour and then glued them onto a cardboard base.  We added some cotton puffs for the clouds.

Welcome Spring
We welcomed Spring on Friday by making this cute little flower.  I used a paper plate for the head of the flower.
We are all happy to see Spring arrive.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Fun Times

Hello and Welcome
Another fun week filled with lots of activities and creating.  So happy that my little ones love anything creative...even better yet, they can play with them after they are made.

So here's what we did last week.

Camera
We made these simple little cameras and they were a big hit!
I glued together a little box (to make it more sturdy).  The kids coloured the printout and we glued it onto the little box I had made.  I hot glued a water bottle cap to the top and we added a bright red sticker to that.  Boy, did they have fun snapping pictures of everything.

ABC Tube
This is a very versatile activity that can be changed from ABC's to numbers, colours or even shapes.
I covered a paper towel roll with white paper, then printed the alphabet all over the tube.  I added in some numbers too.  The kids have to place the stickers over the matching letter/number.  It takes a bit of concentration but a fun recognition activity.

Colourful Clock
I used a paper plate as the base and the kids used stickers for the numbers.  More good practice for number recognition.

Computer
I printed out the keyboard, glued it onto a piece of construction paper.  The base of the monitor is an old CD, a paper tube covered with blue paper and then added the paper screen.

How Do You Feel?
We made these little 'feeling' puppets.  The kids could turn the face to look happy or sad.
We played a little game too....Happy Choices/Sad Choices.  I gave the kids a scenario and they turned the face to reflect it.

Well that's how our week went.  Lot of learning and fun too.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Community Helpers

Hello and Welcome

This past week, we learned all about people that help us in our Community.
Essential workers have keep our lives on track during this difficult time and I thought it was a good time for the kids to explore and create with that theme.

So here's what we did last week.

Police Officer
The kids really had fun pretending to be the police.  We made the hat and the badge; I used a paper clip so that it was easy to go on and off of their collars.

Nurses
These cute little nurse puppets were printed out and glued onto a craft stick.
We coloured a piece of white paper, accordion folded it and then glued it on for her uniform.

Doctor's Bag
This was a fun craft.  I printed off the the inside of a Doctor's kit, the kids had to put all the items in the right place.  After we glued them all into place, we glued them inside of a folded piece of construction paper to make a Doctor's bag.

Stethoscope
This was a simple stethoscope we made.  I wrapped some pipe cleaners with red tape, attached a small plastic cut at the bottom and the kids decorated them with pieces of coloured tapes.

Firetruck
For our firetruck, I glued some popsicle sticks together and the kids added the details.

Firemen
These cute little firemen are a printable.

Emergency
We made these cell phones and practiced pushing 911 emergency.

Traffic Lights

Postal Worker Puppet
Cut little postal worker puppet.

Mailbox
To go along with our Postal worker theme, I made a simple paper mailbox that the kids decorated with coloured tapes.  We added some envelopes for a fun interactive craft.

A simple sorting activity sheet.

Dump Truck

Finally...
I filled up some balloons with water and food colouring and froze them out in the backyard.
My kids loved them.  They called them Magic Wishing balls.

Well that's all for now.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
