Favourite Characters

 Hello.
So glad you could drop in to see what we were up to last week.

Taking a break from our 'winter theme' as the kids wanted to do some crafts showing their favourite characters they love.

So here's what we did last week.

Cookie Monster
I had some black paper plates on hand so I folded it in half and we glued the blue construction paper on the top half.  I covered the tubes with some blue and the kids glued on the eyes.
The cookies were a lesson on learning colours as they glued them all on.

Peppa Pig
The kids love watching this fun little show on TV about Peppa and her brother George.
I printed them out, we decorated them and had a puppet show.

Teletubbies
A new to the kids show they are loving.
We decided to make a simple little match game making learning fun!

Groundhogs
February 2nd was Groundhog Day.
Here were we live, the groundhog predicted an early Spring (fingers crossed although I am skeptical about that prediction lol).
I printed off this cute little guy and after we coloured and decorated him, we glued him to a paper bag we had stuffed with newspaper.  I think the kids had more fun crunching up the newspaper then anything!!  We did a shadow show using them...so fun.

Paw Patrol
One of the most popular kids shows going.
I simply printed off pictures of the characters and we glued them onto a banner.
Great fine motor practice for my littlest ones, picking up the little pieces and gluing them on.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Off to prep for our Valentine creates!

Penguins and Groundhog Day

 Hello and Welcome

I hope you are all keeping well and safe in these uncertain times.
This past week, we learned all about Penguins.  Kids seem to love this interesting creature.
It was also Groundhog Day for us here.  I think it is a very unusual way to predict the weather but hey, it's lots of fun to watch and see if the groundhog will see his shadow or not.  BTW, he didn't see his shadow and run back into his hole so that means an early Spring!!  We will gladly take that.

So here's what we did last week.

Groundhog
We made these fun groundhog pop ups using a paper bag as the hole in the ground.
I glued the groundhog image onto a craft stick and the kids coloured them.

Here's a video showing the groundhog poking his head out of his hole.

We also made a book showing the groundhog.
This is an old printout that I had so I'm sorry there is no link.

We made lots of shadows while playing outside but glad the Groundhog didn't see his!

Penguin Wreath
A simple wreath using a paper plate as the base.

Penguin Frig Magnet
We made this cute penguin frig magnet using an old CD as the base.

Penguin Puppet
A simple puppet using an envelope.

Penguin Egg Roll
We made these cute little penguins using black paper cups I found at the Dollar Tree.
I cut a hole in the front for the egg.  We learned how the penguins tuck their eggs underneath them to keep them warm.  We used a little styrofoam ball as the egg.
They had a blast trying to roll the little ball into the penguin.

We added this cute join up the dots to our homework books.

Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.

Hearts

Welcome.
This week we learned about and created with hearts.
Monday was an exception though, since we learned abut groundhogs and their shadows.
Here is what we did.

Here are the groundhog we made.
I cut a paper plate almost in half but left a rounded shape in the middle.
I folded that upwards and we glued on our cute little groundhog bodies and gave them a face.
We talked about seeing shadows......
then, we turned off the lights and shone a flashlight on our groundhogs to see the shadows they made.  So Fun!

We also practiced our 'g's.

I masked the paper with some letters held on with repositionable glue, then we scribbled over the whole sheet with crayons then pulled off the masking paper to reveal the word LOVE.
We added some heart too.

These little heart shaped mice were so fun to make.
By bending the heads of our mice, they became 3-D.

Our heart garlands were made with strips of paper, coloured on of course, then folded, stapled together then hole punched so they could be strung up as a garland.

Heart monkey...simple using heart shaped.

These are some of the worksheets we did this week.

They are getting excited for Valentine's day and are looking forward to making lots of heart cards....should be fun!!

Thanks so much for taking a look.
