Penguins

 Hello

We are leaning about Penguins this week.
A fun theme as even my smallest little one recognizes them.

So here's what we did last week.

Penguin Hats
This is the simple penguin hat we made.  I think they turned out so cute!

Spoon Penguins
We used some plastic spoons for the penguins body.

Penguin Fridge Magnets
I covered an old CD with black paper and the kids decorated them.
I added a big magnet on the back so they could stick them on their fridge.

Envelope Puppets
One of the easiest ways for little ones to use a puppet is to start with an envelope.
We decorated them and had a puppet show.

Penguin Wreaths
These cute little penguin wreaths started with a black paper plate I got at the Dollar Tree.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Penguins and Groundhog Day

 Hello and Welcome

I hope you are all keeping well and safe in these uncertain times.
This past week, we learned all about Penguins.  Kids seem to love this interesting creature.
It was also Groundhog Day for us here.  I think it is a very unusual way to predict the weather but hey, it's lots of fun to watch and see if the groundhog will see his shadow or not.  BTW, he didn't see his shadow and run back into his hole so that means an early Spring!!  We will gladly take that.

So here's what we did last week.

Groundhog
We made these fun groundhog pop ups using a paper bag as the hole in the ground.
I glued the groundhog image onto a craft stick and the kids coloured them.

Here's a video showing the groundhog poking his head out of his hole.

We also made a book showing the groundhog.
This is an old printout that I had so I'm sorry there is no link.

We made lots of shadows while playing outside but glad the Groundhog didn't see his!

Penguin Wreath
A simple wreath using a paper plate as the base.

Penguin Frig Magnet
We made this cute penguin frig magnet using an old CD as the base.

Penguin Puppet
A simple puppet using an envelope.

Penguin Egg Roll
We made these cute little penguins using black paper cups I found at the Dollar Tree.
I cut a hole in the front for the egg.  We learned how the penguins tuck their eggs underneath them to keep them warm.  We used a little styrofoam ball as the egg.
They had a blast trying to roll the little ball into the penguin.

We added this cute join up the dots to our homework books.

Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.

Penguins

Hello and thanks so much for stopping in.
Another fun week learning and creating with our Penguin theme.
There is always such a fascination about this interesting bird.  We learned how to 'penguin walk', what they eat, how they can't fly but are excellent swimmers and did you know that they cannot taste?  I even learned some things about them that I didn't know.

So here is what we did this week.

Spoon Penguins.
These are so fun and easy just using a white plastic spoon.  I used construction paper but you could also use some fun foam.

Penguin Wreaths
Aren't these cute.  We created a penguin wreath using a paper plate as the base. We added some details and glued on the dots; great for fine motor.

Penguin Match Game
Always great to have a little match game for the kids to play at home with their families.
I found these free printables and used them for our game.

Penguin hats made from construction paper.
Great to wear as we walked around the house like penguins.

Penguins on the ice...colouring and glueing.

...and of course, lots of penguin colouring.

So glad you could come and take a look.
