Welcome
Spring brings new life. It is so wonderful to see all of nature coming alive.
It's great being outside a lot more too.
So here's what we did last week.
Paper Plate Nest
Here is a simple paper plate nest we made.
Swans
This was a simple but fun activity. The base (you can't see it in the photo) is an old CD that we glued strips of paper onto for creating the nest.
Spring Windsock
A simple craft using a decorated piece of construction paper and some streamers.
Baby Chicks
This was a fun and simple craft as well.
I used 2 paper plates, one for the base that we coloured yellow and then I cut the second one to use as the cracked egg and the wings.
Chicken
We used an old CD again as the base for our nest.
We made the chicken with a paper tube and added all the details.
Hatching Eggs
One of our wonderful Grandmas brought us these eggs that she found at the Dollarama.
It just worked so wonderfully with our 'new life' theme of the week.
The eggs were plastic and we had to soak them in some warm water.
After a few hours, the eggs began to hatch....it was so super exciting for my kids to watch!
Once the eggs hatched open, out popped these little chicks...so cute.
You should have heard my little ones squeal.
It was a great activity considering we couldn't have real chicks hatching in the house.
Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.
Have a wonderful week.
What a lovely post Karen and with so many wonderful projects, love the swans and the eggs hatching to reveal the little chicks is fabulous. We have had swans in the lake at our University Campus for a few years now and they are nesting just now, so in a few weeks there will be some cygnets. I think this will be the 4th or 5th brood of them, and they are awfully good parents and manage to keep most of them safe into adulthood. It's a real treat to visit and see cygnets growing up. Anyway, love all your projects, take care, Kate x
ReplyDeleteI sure would have squealed too Karen seeing the fun eggs hatching. Another fun and educational week. The swans faces made me laugh and I enjoyed the post Karen x. Happy Spring to you and the Kiddos x.
