Nocturnal Animals

 Welcome

Another fun and learning week with my little ones.

This past week, we learned about nocturnal animals.  Simple facts for very young ones but a lot of them now know what animals are awake hunting at night.

So here's what we did last week.

Racoon Puppets

I found this cute printout so we glued our puppets together and coloured them.  

(one of my littles thought her raccoon should be wearing a dress)

Stinky Skunk

These were simple skunks we made into puppets.

Bats

The kids really liked this one.

We made a bat cave from an old tissue box.  We glued and coloured our bats and talked about how they fold up their wings to sleep.  

They loved playing with them, folding up the wings and putting them into the box.

Owl

A simple owl to colour.

We all hooted like owls which made us all giggle.

Halloween is Coming

 Welcome 

My little people are getting so excited knowing that Halloween is right around the corner.

Unfortunately, this year will be a lot different for the kids as many are not going out to trick or treat with the virus still being so active and so very contagious.

It makes me feel so sad for them as they wait all year for the big day to arrive.  We love welcoming kids to our Halloween display that fills our porch but we have decided to forgo it for this year as we have tried so hard to be safe in all aspects of our life.

I will have a Halloween party for my little kiddos which is always such a fun time.  

Anyways, here is what we did this week.

Halloween Wall Hanging

Just a fun and simple wall hanging.

The Witch's Cat

We made these adorable cat puppets.

Here is a cute owl I printed and we added a stick to create a puppet.

Flying Bat

Here is a simple flying bat made using a paper plate.

Leaf Rubbings

On our walk we found one of the biggest maple leaves I have ever seen!!

I was as big as a large dinner plate so we just had to make a rubbing with it.

Lots of Colouring

I just draw shapes for them to colour and decorate.

We went on an awesome neighbourhood Scavenger Hunt.

Such a fun activity...we had such a fun time.

Happy Halloween

Well Halloween is over now and wow....did my little ones ever love it!  

They were so excited as all the fun and festivities were getting ready.  I had our space all decorated and we had a party on Thursday morning.  

We played lots of fun games like Bowling in the Dark, Feed the Monster, Witch Hat Ring Toss and Scoop the Eyeballs.  They really didn't want it to end.  

Anyways, onto the crafts we created last week.

Moving spider.

I cut a slit in a paper plate and drew on a spider web.  The kids created paper spiders that would move when place inside the plate.  

Bouncing Spider made with a black paper bowl from the Dollar Store.  Decorated with coloured tapes and glued on some paper legs. 

Envelope Mummies Puppets

Super easy to make using an envelope cut at the bottom.  Glue on some strips of tissue and leave a little space for the eyes.  

Bats to Carry.

My kids love to carry things around so we made these bats using a paper towel tube.  I cut it at the top and covered it with black paper.  The kids coloured and added the features.  They were a hit!

And of course, we had some Halloween food for our party too.

Mummy- made with a wiener wrapped in dough from the grocery store.  

The kids made spiders using 2 crackers spread with peanut butter, some pretzel sticks and Cheerios for the eyes.  They thought they were yummy.
