Halloween is Coming!

Well my little kiddos are getting so excited for Halloween.
As the big day gets closer, we are creating so much and the kids are loving it.
Here's what we worked on this week.

A cute cone shaped witch.
I created a cone shape by rolling some black construction paper then the kids glued on some colourful dots, a green witch face, arms and her hat.  The hat is just a donut shape and slides over the top of the cone.  The little broom is a small popsicle stick with some brown paper cut into slits.

Hanging Ghost.
I cut a ghost from some white cardboard and the kids glued on some white tissue paper.
I added some white strips cut from a garbage bag.

Witches
The faces were made from newspaper and coloured green.
We added the black hats and stringy hair.  They loves laughing like witches and were cracking each other up doing it.

Glowing Pumpkin
This was such a fun activity.
I cut the bottom of 2 paper plates off to make a straight edge.
The back plate has a piece of black construction paper glued onto it and then we added spiders and bats so when the kids looked inside, they could see all of that.
The top plate was coloured orange then we put the 2 together and added a battery candle light.
They loved them!

Silly Skeletons
Simple activity.  Here is the link to print:

And last but not least, lots of colouring sheets.

Well that's all for this week.
Thanks so much for taking a peek.

Fall and the Start of Halloween

My little kiddos are so excited about Halloween.  It's almost as big as Christmas!!
We have really enjoyed walking the neighbourhood looking for pumpkins and the houses that are all decorated for Halloween.  The crunching leaves and squeals of excitement are such a joy!

So here's what we did this week.

Here is a paper plate suncatcher we made.  Cut out the center and using some sticky paper, add shapes and a top layer of sticky paper to hold it all in.
You can get the sticky paper at the Dollar Store or I got a huge roll at Home Depot.

Fall corn.
Simple fine motor gluing paper.

Cute little pumpkin bags for pretending to go 'Trick or Treating'.
find all the instructions here:

Scary Skeletons- super easy to create.
You can find the printout and link here:

Well that's all for this week.
Lots of Halloween fun coming up.

Thanksgiving

Welcome.
This week, we celebrated Thanksgiving by making turkeys and learning another new song....they loved it!

Here is what we created this week.

Who doesn't need a turkey wreath for their door.
We created ours using a paper plate and some construction paper for the feathers.

I am teaching my kiddos how to write their names and this was a really fun project helping to
learn the letters. (I used my name for the picture)
They coloured a paper plate brown, we decorated it with some google eyes and a beak then glued on the letters of their names.  The clothespins had the letters on them so they could clip them on...great fine motor practice as well.

We created a Thanksgiving card for them to give to their parents.

We made a giant stuffed turkey to sit on their table by stuffing a brown lunch bag and added construction paper details.

Turkey hats to finish off our week of creating and celebrating for Thanksgiving.

We played a fun game...super easy to create as well using 2 small brown lunch bags and one larger one.  The game is called 'Stuff the Turkey'.  Throw rolled up newspaper balls into the turkey....they loved it and played it over and over again.
Here's a picture of the one I made and a link to show you how to make it.  I think it would be super fun to use this for a family get-together.

Our song this week:

A turkey is a funny bird,
His head goes wobble, wobble.
The only thing that he can say is,
Gobble, gobble, gobble.

Scarecrows and Leaves

Hello and welcome.
Time for more Fall creating, where we celebrated by creating some adorable little scarecrows...so fun.
I love that my kiddos get so excited about creating so here is what we did this week.

Paper plate scarecrow made with piece of construction paper.
We added our new song of the week on the back so that the parents could sing along at home:

Another fun scarecrow using some popsicle sticks that I hot glued together as the base.
The kids really liked to be working with all the shapes.

Made a huge scarecrow colouring sheet.

Of course we needed some cute crow puppets to go with our scarecrow theme.
I find that using an envelope instead of a paper bag as the base, makes it easier for little hands to use the puppet.  Just glued some black shapes on and done.
Some crow colouring too:

Here is a leaf mobile we made simply with folded paper.
Take a rectangle shaped paper and accordion fold it.  Next open it up finding the center fold.  Cut out the top edge into leaf shape then let kids decorate.  Re-fold to create the leaf shape and staple the bottom edge.

'L' for Leaf
The base is popsicle sticks glued onto construction paper.

That's it.

Next week it will all be about turkeys and Thanksgiving as we will be celebrating that next weekend.
